Room Design: Minimalism Vs. Bohemian Chaos

Lately I've been thinking a lot about room design (probably because school has started up again so my study habits turn into endless hours of pinterest). I used to REALLY love the look of "bohemian" rooms with lots of different colours, textures, patterns, fabrics and random assortments of items. It looks a lot like organized chaos. I still think that design is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but i've been swaying more toward the look of "minimalism" lately for a few reasons.

One, it looks s'cute! Two, it shows off your favourite pieces. Three, it is so much easier to keep clean!

I have a bad habit of getting caught up in wanting to buy lots of little pieces for my room/house that I like...but don't love. Then, I end up with a room full of stuff that's just okay and my favourite things get lost in the chaos. With minimalism, those few key pieces really stand out (and it's cost effective, BONUS for all us cheap gals).

This might sound weird but minimalism is healthier for you... I know..questionable...but if you think about it, when you have a cluttered space dust collects. Especially if you have different fabrics draped every where with lots of little items, lots of little dust bunnies collect. Minimalism is easier to clean because there is simply just less stuff for it to collect on.

NOT ONLY THAT, but it is better for the environment to cut down on our consuming of useless household items.

*It is also not to say that you can't do the Bohemian style in a minimalist way. Best of both worlds!

Bohemian.

Minimalist.
